There's something that I've been meaning to say for quite some time now. And it's this: thank you, so very much, for reading here, for following along as I journal through my life and work. I don't want to take your friendship and readership for granted. And today, as I ponder some of the future posts that you'll be seeing here, I want to say a ginormous thank you for supporting this space.
About a year ago, I talked a lot with my husband about how to keep this place as one that would continue in allowing me to document our lives, our struggles, our dreams and our work-- while also benefiting our family in some way. One of the many things that I appreciate about my husband is his honesty, even when it comes to things that I don't want to hear. During that conversation, my husband gave me a few simple suggestions concerning this little blog, and even though I didn't necessarily agree with them at the time, I started to implement them in spite of my unbelief. One of his suggestions was to blog more by blogging less-- writing posts that were meaningful, which can take more thought and time, which might mean fewer posts but (hopefully!) more purposeful in content. (This idea of blogging less went against everything I had read about building a blog. But I believe it with all of my heart and recommend it.)
Another suggestion that my husband gave me was to write about the things that mattered to me. All of them. And here's the part that, at the time, I didn't like-- he told me to stop writing about our family for everysinglepost. Truth be told, I was a little confused. Wasn't it a good thing to write about my family? Of course you know the answer-- everything in moderation.
My husband's final recommendation was to begin reaching out to quality companies that I could honestly and happily stand behind. And, I will admit, this particular recommendation panicked and delighted me all at once.
The thing is, I can't tell you that those three helpful steps magically grew my blog. (But they truly are the best pieces of blog advice I've ever been given, and from a non-blogger no less!) This little blog is still little. But I like to think of it as the Little Engine that Could. And, though small, it can accomplish many things.
And so, over the course of the next couple of months, you'll begin to see giveaways with companies that I have contacted or been contacted by. All of the companies that will be featured are those that I am honored to partner with, and even more so, elated to extend giveaways from. I've tried to schedule the giveaways sporadically so that, when you come to this space, you aren't overwhelmed by giveaway!giveaway!giveaway! I very much still plan to blog about our life, our family, and my Etsy shop, while also maintaing regular series such as Stories from Here // Project 52 // Heart Art.
Here is where I am asking for your help. Because my desire is to grow this space in an original and meaningful way, I am asking you to share Cranny + Me with those who you believe would appreciate or benefit from it. These opportunities that I have been given are only possible because of your support. (Because, unfortunately, companies like numbers!) And so, again, I want to thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
p.s. This coming Monday, October 7th, Cranny + Me will be hosting a generous giveaway through The Land of Nod. (I'll also be sharing some photographs of my boys' shared room, along with a beautiful TLON rug that I was given to review.) I hope you'll consider sharing the giveaway via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. Thank you in advance!
p.s.s. I'm thankful for my husband, a guy who allows this life to be half as hard and twice as good.
